We create unmatched hand-split boxes using ancient Western Red Cedar.
The use of this irreplaceable ancient wood,
and the unduplicated techniques used in their
crafting, create individual works of art found nowhere else in the world. Each unique box
also serves as a lasting testament to a vanishing heritage. Find out more about our crafting techniques.
Every box we craft
is made from ancient growth trees, whose life may span, literally, a thousand years. The
once vast stands of these mighty giants has been decimated. Click

Located in the Pacific Northwest, just outside
Washington State's capitol, Olympia, Millennia Wood was founded by us in 1985. In
addition to our website, we display and sell our creations at the Olympia Farmer's Market.
Pictured to the left is Shelley at our booth there. Come to the About Us page to meet us and learn how we started Millennia
Wood.
The nature of the exquisite wood
we use, and our unique crafting technique, make each box different. We have a number of
boxes in inventory, some with unadorned natural grain, others with laser applied images
that reflect the flavor of the Pacific Northwest. See our Gallery
page for a small sampling of the boxes we have completed.
Many of our customers prefer to have their hand split box
personalized, or customized, with an image they supply. These images may be drawings or
pictures of favorite people, places, pets, etc., which they supply in either hard copy or
graphics file, and may be augmented with text. To find out how to order a custom box,
visit our How to Order page.
Crafted from a single
piece of wood, our hand split boxes use a unique method of
securing the lid of the box, and continuing to provide the appearance of a single piece of
wood from most sides. To get an idea how this mechanism works, and how it blends into the
appearance of the box, visit our Lid Demonstration
page.
